We provide a full suite of Cartridge Actuated Devices (CADs) and Propellant Actuated Devices (PADS), which have been a part of every successful launch into space; providing safety while on the launch pad; ensuring vehicle motor start while providing key flight termination capability if needed; providing separation of motor stages in flight and ensuring the payload is delivered as needed. In addition, we deliver critical devices to all branches of service that ensure our freedom is preserved. From strategic deterrent to our warfighters, you can depend on our heritage and demonstrated reliability for success.
A frangible nut is intentionally created to split into two halves, doing so when two pyrotechnic devices break the nut thereby releasing the objects being held together. NASA’s Space Shuttle Rocket Boosters are a great example of this device in action.
The frangible nut offers reliability, precision, and control to help perfect mission-critical goals.
The separation nut is a pyrotechnic device designed to perform two functions – keep a pre-loaded assembly of two sets intact and then, upon an electrical signal, releasing the assembly. Known as a Hold Down and Release Mechanism (HDRM), they are a high strength, fastening hardware with the ability to separate and/or release components or structures on demand. As a pyrotechnical solution for critical release events, the most common uses include satellite deployment along with clamp release applications for weapons launch systems. Many of our sep nuts are used for in orbit deployment of antenna reflectors and solar generators as HDRMs
Whether in space, on aircraft or in the sea, dependability is required for mission critical systems needing hold down and release mechanisms that are designed and developed for low shock. Our highly reliable separation nuts are used for applications in submarine, launch vehicle, satellite, and payload systems. An example would be as an HDRM for CubeSat and SmallSat launches. Our separation devices are custom made to meet your mission requirements, from the nut size to the specific materials, the success of your application is at the center point of our design.
Explosive bolts efficiently secure two objects and strategically explode, jettisoning those objects on command when commanded. These bolts initiate a perfect failure at the pivotal moment they need to. This part is designed for missile, launch vehicles, spacecraft and capable of marine applications where rapid structure separation is demanded. Standard explosive bolts and ridge cut explosive bolts are available in a wide range of sizes, configurations and tensile capacities from as little as 200 pounds to as much as 1,000,000 pounds. As an explosive bolt manufacturer, our experts are here to support you in meeting your structural loading, envelope and environmental requirements and guide you on ways to mitigate shrapnel and products of combustion.
A Destruct Charge can mean Bulk Destruct Charge or Linear Shaped Charge. It is a device used to terminate the flight of an errant launch vehicle, missile or target vehicle. A critical component of our Flight Termination System, it is designed to receive a detonation input signal from a Detonator or Explosive Transfer Line. Upon initiation, the high explosive output penetrates and vents the vehicle motor case to terminate the vehicle flight. Missile applications, strategic and tactical, along with space applications of flight termination can easily be tailored to achieve mission goals. Our destruct charges can easily serve multiple applications with tailored mounting options.
A pyro cutter uses energetic materials and a cutting blade to sever objects. It is a cartridge actuated device which, when initiated, will sever/cut a multitude of materials and cross-sectional shapes. Common targets used with ordnance cutting devices include: steel, electrical or fiber optic cables, aluminum, titanium, copper, Kevlar, vectran, zylon, bolts, tubes and woven fiber cords/lines and straps.
