Emergency Escape Systems
Our sub-systems and devices support the major areas of an escape system, including initiation, event sequencing, canopy transparency/hatch removal and ejection seats. We provide emergency ground and in-flight sub-systems and components for both fixed wing and helicopters.

When it comes to the safety, effectiveness and reliability of your military aircraft, your crew requires high-performing, 100% safe small, electrically activated fire extinguishing cartridges. For over 30 years, PacSci EMC has lead the industry in supplying cartridges for the activation of on-board aircraft fire extinguisher systems for the engines and auxiliary power units (APUs). Should a fire break out mid-flight or on the runway, your crew needs a rapid, fast-acting response system. Our cartridges are qualified to MIL-DTL-23659 and MIL-D-21625C for Type III service release, so you can operate with complete confidence and focus your energy on the mission at hand.

Countermeasures Initiation (Chaff and Flare Initiation)
PacSci EMC leads the way in the design of Chaff & Flare Countermeasure Initiators. The aircrew depends on chaff and flare countermeasures to evade enemy missiles. PacSci EMC knows that reliable initiation of the chaff and flare devices means the difference between evasion and being hit by missiles. PacSci EMC’s EEDs (Pressure Cartridges) are used in several different types of chaff and flare devices meeting the proper exit velocity to defeat the missile’s heat or radar technologies. PacSci EMC keeps up with your safety demands, utilizing high-rate lean manufacturing processes to ensure delivery requirements without sacrificing quality.
Release Systems (External Stores & Load Separation)
PacSci EMC’s component and sub-system design capability has resulted in the manufacture of an aircraft external stores release, operationally and in an emergency. We’ve used a variety of technologies to meet the requirements of different platforms with devices like CADs (Explosive Bolts, Pin Pullers), PADs (Gas Generators), EEDs (Pressure Cartridges, Detonators and Linear (ETLs). Our designs provide the means to release mission-critical devices, including missile, weapon or the jettison of a pylon or fuel tank in the event of an emergency.
Flotation Systems (Initiation and Deployment)
Continuing our commitment to your military aircraft’s safety system, PacSci EMC provides devices for initiating flotation systems and severing or releasing unstable loads from helicopter winches, cables and pylons. In the event of a midflight emergency, we’ve designed and qualified several unique CADs (Actuators, Guillotines, Thrusters, Explosive Bolts, Separators) and EEDs (Pressure Cartridges).
Test & Support Services
If you require any testing or support services for any of the Emergency Escape and Safety System previously discussed, PacSci EMC provides the staff and facilities to assist. Those services include but not limited to:
- Engineering design and analysis of pyrotechnic sub-systems and components
- Utilizing PacSci EMC test facilities to perform function and data acquisition of pyrotechnic sub-systems and components.
- PacSci EMC provides designs, onsite installation and post-test safety evaluation to jet engine manufacturers for FAA dictated Blade Out testing.
- Onsite Emergency Escape System development or qualification Sled Test preparation, installation, post-test evaluation.

Failure investigation identified decomposition of Nitrocellulose/Nitroglycerine (NC/NG) double base propellant used in Bullseye propellant. This occurred during temperature cycling where the temperature was held at +95°C (+203°F) for 16 hours.
